Quick License Manager Express is sold on a per-seat basis. You need to purchase
1 copy of Quick License Manager Express for each system on which you install it.
You can distribute the Quick License Manager DLL royalty free as long as your product
does not compete directly or indirectly with Quick License Manager. You can use
Quick License Manager Express for any number of applications.
If you install the
Quick License Manager DLL on a server for the purpose of
generating or activating keys, you need to purchase an additional license for the server.
Example:
Your company develops 3 products. You have 10 developers working on the 3 products.
3 out of the 10 developers need to work with the Quick License Manager API
and install Quick License Manager Express on their system. You should purchase 3
licenses of Quick License Manager Express.
You install Quick License Manager Express or the Quick License Manager DLLs on a
system for the purpose of generating keys. You should purchase an additional license
for that system.
Your support representative uses the Quick License Manager Express user interface to generate and validate license keys. You should purchase an additional
license for the support representative.
Quick License Manager Professional is sold on a per-seat basis. You need to purchase
1 copy of Quick License Manager Professional for each system on which you install
it. For each purchased license, you can install a single copy of the Quick License
Manager Professional web service on a single server, beit at your site or hosted at an ISP. If you want to redistribute the web service with your application
to implement floating (concurrent) licensing, you need to purchase Quick License
Manager Enterprise.
Example:
Your company develops 3 products. You have 10 developers working on the 3 products.
3 out of the 10 developers need to work with the Quick License Manager Professional API and install
QLM Professional on their system. You should purchase 3 licenses of Quick License
Manager Professional. In addition, each license you purchase entitles
you to install the Quick License Manager web service on 1 server for the purpose of generating keys.
Your support representative uses the Quick License Manager Professional user interface to manage the keys issued by your Quick License Manager Professional server. You should purchase an additional
license for the support representative.
If you are looking at implementing a floating or concurrent licensing scheme for your application, you need to include
the Quick License Manager web service
with your application. With Quick License Manager Enterprise, you can distribute
the Quick License Manager web service with your application royalty free as long
as your product does not compete directly or indirectly with Quick License Manager.

1 copy of Quick License Manager Enterprise for each system on which you install
it.
A floating license allows multiple users to share use of your application.
With a floating license, if one user is using your application, all other users will be denied access to your application.
When the user exits your application, another user can begin using it.
The floating license can be configured for 1 or more simultaneous users.
Access is controlled by the Quick License Manager web service which monitors licenses.
There are 2 ways you can use Quick License Manager to implement floating licenses:
- If your application is guaranteed to have internet access at all times, then you
can host the QLM web service at your site or ISP site. You therefore do not need to distribute the Quick License Manager web service with your application. In this case, you should purchase Quick License Manager Professional.
- If your application is not guaranteed
to have internet access at all times, then you need to ship the Quick License Manager web service with your application and
are therefore required to purchase Quick License Manager Enterprise.
