  4. What Operating Systems does Quick License Manager support?
The Quick License Manager API supports Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2003, and Windows Vista. The Quick License Manager Console supports Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2003 and Windows Vista. The Console uses the .NET Framework 2.0.

  5. Can I use Quick License Manager with Delphi?
Yes, you can use Quick License Manager with Delphi. You need to create COM Wrappers for the IsLicense40.dll using the TLIBIMP utility located in the Delphi bin folder.

  6. Can I use Quick License Manager to protect Excel sheets?
Yes, you can use Quick License Manager to protect Excel sheets. A sample is provided in the Samples folder.

  7. When I run the sample application on another computer, I get an exception when creating the IsLicenseMgr object.
    There are 2 possible reasons:
    • You have not registered the IsLicense40.dll.
    • If you are developing in C++, you need to call CoInitialize (NULL) before creating a COM object.

  8. Does Quick License Manager use the Microsoft .NET Framework?
The Quick License Manager Console that is used to generate and validate keys uses the .NET Framework. The Quick License Manager API is a COM API and does not use the .NET Framework. This means that your application will not depend on the .NET Framework if you use Quick License Manager.

The .NET Framework is a development and execution environment that allows different programming languages and libraries to work together seamlessly to create Windows-based applications that are easier to build, manage, deploy, and integrate with other networked systems.

  9. The setup failed to install the Microsoft .NET Framework. What do I do? (obsolete)
Under some circumstances, the setup mail fail to install the .NET Framework. In this case, try to install the .NET Framework directly from Microsoft's web site at: Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1

Once the .NET Framework is installed, try to install Quick License Manager.

  10. I have referenced the Microsoft Merge Modules in my setup but I still cannot register IsLicense.net.dll with regsvr32.exe. What do I do?

The merge modules VC User CRT71 RTL and VC User MFC71 RTL are typically found in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Merge Modules. Unfortunately, the merge modules that Microsoft created have an issue in that they install DLLs in the Installation folder of the main application instead of the system folder. Since IsLicense.net.dll is not installed in the installation folder, it does not find these DLLs. An updated version of these merge modules can be found in the installation folder of Quick License Manager (under the Merge Modules folder). This updated version installs the system DLLs in the system folder.

To use the updated merge modules, you need to replace the existing Microsoft merge modules located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Merge Modules with the updated ones. It is recommended to backup the Microsoft merge modules into another folder prior to replacing them.

You can download these merge modules from here.
